Slash X Ranch Cafe

Overview

As we were making our way from Death Valley National Park over to Joshua Tree, we stopped for one night in Barstow, California. We found Slash X Ranch Cafe on Harvest Host.

This place had a huge dirt lot out back with a ton of space for campers and RVs. The terrain was all dirt with an open view of the mountains. We got there on a Saturday and had to make it an early dinner to grab some food before they closed at 6 p.m. We ordered the chicken strips, triple burger, and chili cheese fries. A little pricey for what it was, but not terrible. The bar had a really interesting vibe. I loved their eclectic wall hangings and decorations. It reminded me a little of my grandpa’s old shop, which was also overfilled with a ton of random ass things.

*We have a Harvest Host Membership, so we can stay at destinations like this for free with the expectation of spending $20 minimum within the facility.

Tip:

Pay attention to how the wind is blowing when parking your camper. We parked ours against the wind, and our camper shook all night. It didn’t make for a good night’s sleep.
