Getting here was no small feat. For some reason traffic was insane, and we showed up four hours later than our estimated time of arrival. Our GPS wasn’t helping matters and kept wanting us to butt up to the accidents. We’ve got beef with Baton Rouge now. It was a mess, but we finally made it. We arrived late, so we weren’t able to see a whole lot. The next morning we had a beautiful sunrise but the rest of the day was cold and rainy. The majority of this stay was cold and rainy actually, so we picked up and took off for our next destination a few days in.
We weren’t able to explore a whole lot in this town. We tried out the Tiki Bar and Grill for some mediocre dinner. Do not get Chris’s Special. It was special but in the worst way. Their chicken wrap was pretty good though.
On our last day here, we were finally able to get our bikes out and ride around the beach and in between the stilt houses. After the bland, gray days prior, we had the most incredible ocean sunset 🖤 It transitioned from a beautiful golden hour to a lisa frank painting. Simply gorgeous.
Tip:
I think this place would be more fun in the spring and summer seasons. In the off-season, it was very cold and dreary and didn’t really motivate us to get out and explore in the rain.
