Exploring the Heart of Kingman

Kingman, Arizona, ended up being one of our favorite stops thanks to the friendly people we met, the fun murals, and the wide variety of bars and restaurants. Kingman is a city along Route 66 in northwestern Arizona. It’s surrounded by desert and framed by stunning mountain vistas. History buffs can check out the Route 66 Museum and the Arizona Route 66 Museum. My personal favorite features of Kingman were its vibrant murals and intricate signage in its quirky downtown.

Food & Drink

Black Bridge Brewery – Cute brewery with a decent selection of brews. They have bingo every other Thursday, and there is a host cat named Hops.

Grand Canyon Brewing – Very cool two-floor bar. We enjoyed their fried ravioli and bison burger.

Rickety Cricket – If you’re ever in the area, you need to try one of their Dirty Duh Pizzas. Their house-made dough is made with spent grains and oats from their brewing process. This means one week, you might get a zesty IPA-style crust, and the next, a dark roast crust from one of their stouts. Plus, these bad boys are THICC.

Bangkok Thai Cuisine – Came highly recommended by Kingman local, Tyrell. It was pretty tasty. Especially liked their crab ragoon.

Features

Downtown Kingman – We’ve said it before, and we’ll repeat it: murals make towns so much more interesting. Kingman also featured many intricate glowing neon signs and an overall retro vibe that embraces the city's vibrant past.

Kingman Visitor Center + Museum – Located in Kingman’s historic Powerhouse, it was named “coolest Visitor Center in Arizona” by Only In Your State 2023. It also houses a gift shop, the Arizona Route 66 & Electric Vehicle Museums, the Guardian Angel of Route 66 StoryFile Experience, and 16 Tesla Superchargers.

Hualapai Mountains – Due to knee recovery, we didn’t get a chance to hike, but we drove through the mountains on Shualapa Mountain Road, which was gorgeous!

Special Shoutout: Rickety Cricket

We have to call out Rickety Cricket Brewing for its excellent brewmanship and laid-back atmosphere. Not only is the pizza dough uniquely made with leftover hops from their various brews, but the names are equally creative; Dill-dough, Mustache Ride, and Artichoke Me Daddy, to name a few 😂

I’m a designer, so I appreciate well-designed packaging and graphics. I love their branding and creative illustration for the various brews.

We had such a great time here. Plus, one of our MOTM stickers can be found on their sticker door! Evelyn, Amanda, and Danny, it was so great getting to know you. Hopefully, our paths will cross again in the future! 🖤
