Lake Corpus Christi State Park

Mathis, Texas

Terrain // Campsite + Lake | Cost // $25/night | Our Rating // 8

Getting to this site from Crystal Beach was pretty cool. There is a free ferry that connects Bolivar to Galveston, and it runs all the time. This state park was great. A $25 full hookup site is totally worth it! We ended up getting a Texas State Park Pass. It cost $70/year, and you get discounts at all of their parks. It’s normally $5/person/day. With the pass that fee is waived.

We decided to try out our mini washing machine at this spot. It did a pretty nice job for 4 little loads of laundry. Unfortunately, it was pretty cloudy and humid outside, so we hung up our clothes in every spot we could find inside the camper. We lived like hoarders for a couple of days, but it was nice to be able to wash our own clothes.

The majority of our time spent here was riding bikes and walking around all of the paths throughout the park. There are quite a few things to see between the pretty scenery, the water, and a castle!

Our one critique of this place is the lack of sticker designs. We’re collecting stickers from each place we’re staying, and these two designs were a little lame, so it got tucked in the corner.

Tip:

If you plan on washing your own clothes while you’re on the road, we recommend getting some kind of hanging system. We have one that collapses and is easy to store. Make sure you have extra hangers to hang your shirts, pants, and undies!
