Oh, How Sweet Grass Smells Can Be

After three-plus months in the desert, we forgot what the smell of grass was like. Sweetwater, Texas, reminded us just how sweet that lush, green ground cover can be. The fresh aroma instantly made us homesick and very excited to continue our way home to Ohio. We had an early night out at a great little diner. At the time of our stay, the owner of the property was in the process of selling their house, so we’re not sure this Boondockers Welcome stop is still on the map.

Skeets Texas Grill // Incredible food at the best price we’ve experienced in a long time. Their fish tacos were excellent, and the country-fried steak was thicc and came with a deep-fried biscuit.

About The Town

Sweetwater is a municipality in and the seat of Nolan County, Texas.  It sits on Interstate 20 between Abilene and Big Spring, Texas.  The population is 10,906 as of the 2010 census. Sweetwater has some amazing attractions hosted throughout the year, with two historical museums, the famous rattlesnake roundup, and much more. The city’s location lends itself well to the energy markets. The surge of wind turbines and solar farms has fit very well into a market where the landowners understand that their lands can be used for more than just livestock grazing, growing crops, or drilling for oil.
